The query search() sends for params, checked exactly as search() checks them:
throws LobbyValidationError for anything search() would reject before a request
(an unknown key, a blank q or sort, a bad page/pageSize, an unknown or
malformed filter unless allowUnknownFilters). It makes no request, so a caller can
check its input first; the CLI does, so a usage error is never preceded by the
cleartext warning it logs before the first request.
