string as is, or an {code, message, details} object's message and details
joined with "; ". Empty parts and repeats are dropped (the live server sends
"message": "" with the reason only in details, and sometimes the same text in
both). Every part is stripped of control characters (sanitizeServerText).
Returns undefined when nothing readable is left.
